Acceptable Use Policy

What you may and may not do with ODHOST hosting, email and servers, including spam and security rules, and how we handle abuse reports.

Last updated Version 1

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to every service provided by ODHOST, a unit of Nishita Solutions. It protects our customers, our network and the wider internet. It forms part of our Terms of Service.

Content you may not host or send

  • Anything illegal in India, or anything that helps others break the law.
  • Malware, viruses, phishing pages, or pages that pretend to be another business or a government body.
  • Material that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights, including pirated software, films or music.
  • Child sexual abuse material. We report it to the authorities.
  • Content that threatens or harasses people, or promotes violence or hatred against a group.

Email

  • Send email only to people who have agreed to receive it. Every marketing email must include a working way to unsubscribe.
  • Do not send unsolicited bulk email or use purchased or rented address lists.
  • Do not forge sender details or hide where a message came from.
  • Shared servers limit how many messages an account can send each hour. Accounts that cause spam complaints or blocklisting may be paused straight away.

Network and server use

  • Do not attack, scan or probe other systems, including denial of service attacks, brute-force logins and vulnerability scanning without permission.
  • Do not run open proxies, open mail relays, IRC servers, crypto-currency mining, or file sharing networks on shared hosting.
  • Do not use more than a fair share of a shared server's CPU, memory or disk activity. We may limit processes that affect other customers.
  • Do not try to get around plan limits or reach other customers' data.

Security

  • Keep your software, plugins and passwords up to date.
  • If a site is hacked, we may suspend it until it has been cleaned, to protect other customers.
  • On a VPS or dedicated server, you are responsible for its security and for what it sends.

What we do about breaches

Depending on how serious the breach is, we may warn you, remove the content, limit the service, suspend it, or terminate it. We act straight away where there is a risk to others, and tell you what happened and how to fix it. Services ended for breaching this policy are not refunded.
